During my time as Senior Editor on Australia's Sunday Telegraph magazine I interviewed celebrities for cover stories and scoops.

While there was a lot of glamour (flying to LA to stay in nice hotels), there was also a lot of background wrangling with agents and PRs.

Planning and good negotiation skills are everything. As is finding your hook quick and fast, vital when you've only got 30, 20, 10 minutes with your subject. Little hones your instinct for an angle faster than a stint as a celebrity journalist.
